Congratulations

Read about our students' accomplishments.

Alyssa D. will be attending a summer course at the University of California at Berkeley, studying psychology and neuroscience.  Alyssa is a rising 12th grader who has been working with Jim since the beginning of 10th grade.  Congratulations, Alyssa!

Congratulations to Joseph O., whose standardized reading test scores have risen by FIVE ENTIRE GRADE LEVELS since the beginning of this school year!  In Math, too, his teacher stopped his grandmother in the hallway to tell her how much Joseph's work had improved.  Joseph has been working with Elizabeth for three years.  Sometimes progress happens in leaps!

Sarah B. is very excited to be going to her first choice college, Emerson, in Boston, with $35,000 per year in scholarship money.  She was also admitted to her second choice, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and to just about every school she applied to, including her "reach school."  Sarah started working on high school math as a 10th grader, then dug into SAT prep and college essays with both Jim and Elizabeth.  Well done Sarah!  It's great to see your hard work pay off.

4th grader Andrew S. has achieved his initial tutoring goal:  catch up to grade level in Math.  Now, on to the next goal:  get ahead in Math!

Charlie V. has been accepted to the Lindblom Academic Center for 7th and 8th grade.  As you may know, Chicago Public School middle schoolers enrolled in the Academic Centers of the Selective Enrollment High Schools are automatically enrolled in those high schools, without having to pass the High School Admissions Test (HSAT).  Well done, Charlie, and all the best!

Dale T. has started college! He is at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Dale started tutoring with Jim as a sophomore in high school, and he is continuing as a college freshman. We congratulate Dale on the culmination of his hard work in high school.

Congratulations to Mariama B., who has received a full ride scholarship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Mariama started tutoring with Jim as a 6th grader and continued tutoring throughout middle and high school. You go, girl!
